STIGP44 was a beast of a site, with tables, font tags, html styling, all that. Even after I got it all (sort of) working together I still had no idea exactly how to launch. For instance (and maybe I shouldn't tell this on myself) I was ignorant of the significance of index.htm. It was time to call in the Pro's.
So I did. There was this guy at Ask-A-Pro.net, Glenn, and he was a veritable fount of patience, answering all my noobie questions. My original choice for site name (STIGP.COM) didn't make it, as Glenn checked Whois.com and that name was already (unbelievably!) taken by Singapore Transportation something or other. After some degree of thought I added my birth year to the name and STIGP44.COM was born. Together we launched the site on Go-Daddy's servers, where this site resides at the present, although this account is solely in my name.
I'd expended considerable effort to learn html, and tables, etc, but even then the sand was shifting beneath my feet as CSS was just heaving into view so it was back to the online forums, tutorials, etc for yet another round of learning. After a few redesigns I decided that STIGP44 had served it's purpose, a new site, a new account and a new domain name was called for and that's when JPWILLISNITZ.COM was born. I had no ties to the STIGP44 domain, either financial or emotional, so I let it lapse, set it free, to go wherever.
STIGP44 currently sleeps in the servers of Domains By Proxy, a Go-Daddy subsidiary, who apparently are of the opinion that as the domain was abandoned on their servers they now own it, and I'm cool with that. After all, I set it free, with no strings.
Rest In Peace, STIGP44.
