The "Sixties" have been hyped out of all semblance of reality by legions of writers with various agendas to pursue. To me, it was just living, and I spent most of that decade in the U. S. Navy. In the late sixties I pulled a tour and a half in Vietnam, serving on a beat up old LST, hauling freight all the way from the Mekong Delta in the South to the Dong Ha river in the North. Woodstock happened while I was incountry Vietnam, and years later I wondered how my life would have been different if I'd not done that second hitch in the Navy and went to Woodstock instead. Probably been better drugs, but maybe not.
